Happy Monday ya’ll!
To get to know me a little bit better, it’s important to know a little bit more about CP. I think our love story is the perfect place to start.
It was 2011. I was 26 years old living every single girls dream in Dallas. I had an amazing group of friends, a job that I loved, and finally at a place in my life where I wasn’t searching for someone, I was just fine on my own.
I love how God’s plans are always better than mine!!
One weekend in July (July 15 to be exact) I was traveling home to west Texas for my cousins wedding. To be honest, I was kind of dreading it. In my family everyone marries fairly young, or at least is in a serious relationship going somewhere by the age of 22. I had neither. And even though I was extremely content, the only question anyone ever asked me was if I was dating anyone. Needless to say I was prepared to avoid that question like the plague that weekend. Luckily there was going to be an open bar.
Moving on. I showed up at the rehearsal dinner, wearing one of my favorite dresses, feeling pretty great about myself. I thought I knew all of my cousins friends that would be in the wedding party. Color me surprised when I saw someone I had never met, with the best head of hair I had ever seen in my life. I thought, this weekend could be ok after all. I marched right over and introduced myself.
Nothing more really came from that night, we were basically the only single people in the whole place, so I figured at least I would have someone to dance with the next night.
Anywho, fast forward to the wedding, we talked, we dance, we laughed. It was amazing! We didn’t exchange numbers or make other plans (I found out later he thought we were all meeting up after the wedding) I was headed back to Dallas the next day, so I just chalked it up to a great weekend!!
CP had other plans. He asked my brother if he could have my number (I guess my dance moves were really impressive). He called me the next day, and we talked for hours. Come to find out, he lived in Waco (only 2 hours from me in Dallas). After two weeks of talking on the phone for hours on end, he made plans to come visit me for a weekend. I knew this one was different, he was everything I never knew I even wanted!
And the rest is history…
Just kidding, there is more to the story, but this is already getting too long. I will just leave you with the most adorable picture from our first date at the Kings of Leon/Band of Horses concert. Solid first date.
